Not speaking 'legalese' I can't make much sense of this or why it is being posted here with no more explanation of the reason. There are definitely a lot of people who are wondering about the timing of this vote (especially considering that 11 of those apparently FOR the sale will be out of office come the 1st of January!). There are also rumors of at least one instance of a pro-sale vote which came about because of a promise of monetary support in return. The taxpaying citizens of Ulster County certainly DESERVE clear, concise, complete, and thorough explanations from EVERY LEGISLATOR as to why they plan to vote one way or another. County Executive Hein has pushed the plan to sell Golden Hill forward virtually on his own, but what is the rush and who will really benefit from this? Does he have connections with those who established the LDC proposal? What is REALLY going on here?

I think you will never know who was secretly benefiting one way or the other but one thing is for sure, the taxpayers will benefit from getting this home off their bills.Too much graft in this county and this issue is about eliminating at least one vehicle of abuse.

Assuming that the home can not be run without shenanigans is a sad statement. My understanding is that it operated in the black until an Executive came into being. If I accepted your negative outlook I would have to fight for dissolution of the entire County Government. Not so sure it is smart to give this county facility away adding to county debt just to balance Hein's budget for one year.

Who is buying it, how much is it worth, and what are the buyers plans for the entire property?

Until those questions are answered, nothing should be done. The elected officials that allow it to happen are selling the taxpayers down the river and should be removed from office.

Why not wait to take a vote until the 11 legislators who approve the sale are out of office Jan. 1, and hear from the elected officials then? I AGREE that until we know the value, who it is being sold to, and whether it will continue to be used as a nursing home, this vote should be tabled.

11:45: That is truly pathetic.

Fred Wadnola's legacy will be that he lead a do nothing Legislature, maybe the worst ever, and got steamrolled by Mike Hein. He will now pack up and retire to Florida with his $125,000+ a year in publicly funded pensions, thumbing his nose to Ulster County all the way there. Thanks Fred and good riddance!

Interesting new affiliations running the European Deli in Ellenville now. Better be careful what you say there. I don't think the business is about selling food anymore. You might be overheard by a few more people than you're comfortable with.
