Elliot, get over it. No one is buying the "Protocol" argument. Did you not see the results of the last election. There are protocols and your office was given them. Please stop misstating the facts and trying to make a very sad and dark day in and for the Kingston Police Department, the City of Kingston and the Matthew family your political agenda. It is very unprofessional.

I heard a rumor that the current Under Sheriff left the KPD on not good terms? Anyone know why?

The current Sheriff never worked for the Kingston Police Department.

Here's rumor to get you going, one night in the furthest corner of the county a fierce firefight led a couple of wild Indians to their demise in an ashen pit. What they had to say has never been told. Chew on that one and squirm. Heh,heh.

Under Sheriff... not Sheriff. Reading comprehension, it is important.

You are right Elliot. They need more controls and oversight. Cops are people too. They have the same problems, the same pressures as anyone else. No way would the county let the DPW, DMV, or DSS have access to the amount of money the police and DA do without knowing where every penny goes. Law enforcement is not special and it is not their money. It is our money and I want to know that it is in safe, reliable and trustworthy hands. I can not say that today. The DA and Sheriffs office have to step up and show us the money!

Nice restitution deal. Matthews uses public money to pay back the public money that he stole.

This is an acceptable deal Carnright? I keep hearing Matthews has a house in Kingston and a house in Florida, what didn't Carnright go after those? Why should we pay for this? His pension should be revoked. He has betrayed the public trust so the public should betray him but yanking his pension. Seems only fair to me.

Here is some food for thought; if the Comptroller had been worrying less about polybiz and doing the JOB he was elected to do he would have been doing audits as required of his position by law. It would not have prevented this situation with Matthews but it would have caught it two years sooner. Amazing when you look at who should have been doing what it turns out Elliott is good at blowing smoke and not much more. The Charter Revision group should take a close look at that. As for the DA, why didn't they indict Auerbach for official misconduct when conducting the Matthews investigation- he certainly has not met his constitutional and charter obligations........

Another local yokel that has no idea what they are talking about but love to flap their gums. Do us all a favor and when you actually know something of value that has any truth to it then comment. I expect given that criteria we will not be hearing from idiots like you again anytime soon.
