This epidemic of failing tax policy is only getting worse. Without a fundamental change in the school tax system we are headed off a cliff. It's time for a sales tax on food to stop the hemorrhage. The base is shrinking too rapidly and by next year many districts will be insolvent. Remove the school tax from the yearly tax bill and buyers will come swarming. The cuts in schools on top of the high taxes will accelerate the exodus by the fall of this year. Other states tax food, it's time we did too.

I guess that Tamarack property can be assumed by the county now. The fire cleaned up most of the liability on it. No more phony indians.

I agree that the School taxes are diminishing the tax base. Move the tax to a consumption tax instead of the property tax.
